The Management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has commenced a comprehensive onboarding and transition process for the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christian Agyare.
The high-level meeting focused on preparations ahead of Professor Agyare’s assumption of office, including transitional arrangements, a structured orientation programme and plans for an official investiture ceremony.

Management disclosed at the meeting that a seven-week orientation programme had been drafted by the Registrar to provide the incoming Vice-Chancellor with a comprehensive understanding of the University’s operations and strategic priorities. During the period, Professor Agyare is expected to engage with key University officers, unions, administrative units and review institutional documents.
The University also announced that a formal investiture ceremony would be held on Aug. 1, 2026, under the distinguished patronage of the Chancellor, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to officially usher Professor Agyare into office. Members of the University Council and other key stakeholders are expected to attend.

On behalf of the Governing Council and Management, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mrs Rita Akosua Dickson, congratulated Professor Agyare on his appointment and assured him of the University’s full support as he prepares to lead the institution into its next phase of growth and transformation.

In his remarks, Professor Agyare expressed gratitude to the Governing Council and Management for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to adopt a leadership style grounded in collaboration, inclusiveness and stakeholder engagement.
He assured the University community of his commitment to carrying everyone along, emphasising the importance of fostering unity and a shared sense of purpose.
Professor Agyare said institutional cohesion and harnessing the collective expertise of all stakeholders would remain central to his administration as he prepares to assume office as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of KNUST.
